Rick Steves “Luther and the Reformation”

Rick Steves is a guidebook author, TV host, and a respected European travel expert. He is also an activist and a proud Lutheran. Recently, Rick Steves granted $100,000 to ELCA World Hunger as part of his Smart Climate Commitment. His contribution will support families as they adopt sustainable practices for their farms, adapt to a changing climate and increase food security. Altogether, Rick Steves Europe is investing $1 million a year in nonprofit organizations that fight climate change. This will help mitigate the carbon emissions of the 30,000 people who take Rick Steves tours every year. Learn more about the initiative here.

Rick Steves also produced a documentary special, “Luther and the Reformation” in honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. In the documentary, Rick Steves tells the story of Martin Luther as he visits key sites relating to the Reformation (including Erfurt, Wittenberg and Rome). It is a resource that can help us better understand our Lutheran roots, and our journey forward in the gospel together. You can host a screening and discussion at your congregation – the entire documentary is available above!
